Summer camp co-chair and board member

What's your favorite aspect of AFS?

I love all of the AFS events, but my favorite is the summer camp! We basically have a mini National Flute Convention in Phoenix every summer, and it's a great learning opportunity for flutists of all ages. Where else can you participate in flute-specific masterclasses and classes, play chamber music, and hear performances of talented flutists all in one week without leaving town? It's awesome!

When you're not being a rock star board member, what are you up to?

I am currently finishing up my Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at ASU. I also teach private flute lessons to an amazingly diverse and talented group of students, and enjoy watching movies and playing with my dogs!

I love making all kinds of things out of polymer clay. Everything from jewelry and fridge magnets to detailed replicas of some of my favorite book and movie scenes. One day, I'd love to cover a cheap flute with polymer clay designs and turn it into an artistic masterpiece!

Anything else you'd like AFS members to know about you or your work on the board?

It's my goal to be creative and to help create fun, new opportunities for members of the AFS! The AFS has such an important and noble mission: to help our flute community learn and grow. I want the AFS to continually meet the needs of all of our members by thinking outside-of-the-box and collaborating with new organizations. Please let me know if you have any ideas on how we can serve you better!
