We welcome and encourage all Arizona Flute Society members to participate in our many annual events!  Events include guest artist performances, educational masterclasses and camps, and flute choir performance opportunities. Please join us for these fantastic events!

Spring

FLUTE FESTIVAL

 
Annually in April
Phoenix College
​

The AFS Flute Festival is a fun performance opportunity for flutists of all ages and levels!

Flutists can perform for helpful comments and feedback in the Festival or compete to win 

prizes in the Competition. Competition divisions offer cash prizes totaling $850 and

scholarships to the AFS Summer Flute Camp! 

​

Be sure to stop by our festival booths from local organizations and vendors! Flutists can

try new flutes and browse music and accessories.

Alla Breve Too Flute Choir

AFS members of any age and level​

Do you love flute choir? Have you always wanted to try playing one of the low flutes? Alla Breve Too is for you!

 

This is one of our two annual pop-up flute choirs. Flutists who register for Alla Breve Too meet for a couple of rehearsals and a performance! Music is given ahead of time so flutists can practice, and our guest flute choir director helps guide and rehearse the group for a fun and exciting performance.

AFS members of any age are welcome to participate for FREE! Flutists may request which instrument they will play and which part they prefer.

Summer

SUMMER FLUTE WORKSHOP

 
Annually in June/July
For flute players of all levels & ages

 

Our summer flute workshop provides flute players of all ages and levels with workshops to develop various skills. Special guest artists present workshops and recitals, and everyone is encouraged to participate in chamber groups!

Fall/Winter

AUTUMN AFFAIR  

November, Annual Fundraiser

Our highly anticipated AUTUMN AFFAIR fundraiser is held each fall!  This fundraising event takes place at the beautiful Kerr Cultural Center in Scottsdale with a featured Guest Artist. Fundraiser ticket price includes a solo performance from renowned performers, delicious hors d'oeuvres and desserts, and a silent auction with a wide variety of exciting items and gift certificates.

 

The Autumn Affair is always lots of fun at the Kerr Cultural Center, please be sure to join us!

Alla Breve Flute Choir

 
Annually in October or November

This is our original Alla Breve! It's another great flute choir opportunity for AFS members!

 

This pop-up flute choir meets every Fall for a couple of rehearsals and a performance. Music is given ahead of time so flutists can practice, and our guest flute choir directors help guide and rehearse the group for a fun and exciting performance.

Regional Etude Masterclasses

 

Annually in December AND January​

​

High school flutists from all over the valley polished their Regional Honor Band etudes at this year's Regional Etude Masterclasses! We feature an East Valley masterclass annually, and were excited to introduce a NEW masterclass location in the West Valley.

​

These educational clinics cover performance and practice techniques for the 3 Regional etudes, sightreading, scales, and also includes optional mock-auditions to help prepare young flutists for their audition!

We are a non-profit organization created to support flute players across the state of Arizona.  Our members are students, teachers, and flute lovers!

We offer several different levels of membership including individual, family, and corporate.  Members gain access to our newsletter and a variety of events.
