Alan J. Tomasetti, praised by WFIU Public Radio as having a “rich and captivating tone that mesmerizes even the most distracted listener”, is a dynamic and expressive flutist whose charismatic performances have delighted audiences across Arizona and beyond. Alan regularly performs as both Acting Principal Flute and Piccolo/Utility Flute with Chandler Symphony Orchestra, 2nd/picc with Arizona Repertory Orchestra, and soloist Sonoran Desert Chorale. Alan has also been a principal member of the Desert Echoes Flute Project and Chamber Choir since 2016 and was fortunate to be featured as a soloist at the prestigious 2019 National Flute Association Convention in Salt Lake City, captivating audiences at the pre-gala concert. Alan is also a substitute/extra player for MusicaNova Orchestra, Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra, and la Orquesta Filarmónica de UNAM.
Before relocating to Arizona, Alan was Associate Principal Flute with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Camerata Orchestra, and the Terre Haute Symphony. In addition to his orchestral duties, his solo appearances included performances of J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerti No. 4 and 5, Antonio Vivaldi’s Goldfinch Concerto and Piccolo Concerto in C Major, W.A. Mozart’s Concerti in G Major, D Major, and for Flute and Harp, as well as Avner Dorman’s Piccolo Concerto. Recently, Alan had the privilege to be a guest soloist for Arizona State University’s premiere performance of Arthur Honegger’s Concerto da Camera and has filled in on a last minute notice with Chandler Symphony Orchestra playing Mozart’s Concerto for Harp and Flute.
As a passionate advocate for flute education and innovation, Alan co-founded and is a producer for the internationally-known podcast series “PorterFlute Pod” hosted by flutist Amy Porter that’s currently in its 8th season to date. Alan is also passionate about non-profit involvement including serving as a coach for Mesa Community College’s annual Flute Regional Etude Day, a sectional coach for Phoenix Youth Symphony’s flute sections, and act as an adjudicator for the Flute Society of Washington (DC)’s Honors Competition for the Mid-Atlantic Flute Festival. Alan has also served as a board member for the Arizona Flute Society specifically chairing the 2026 Festival and Competition where he brought in the organization’s first ever prize sponsors and increased the monetary prizes by over 400%.
Alan has been privileged to perform in masterclasses with legendary flutists such as Sir James Galway, Elizabeth Mann, Anna Dina Schick, Jeanne Baxtresser, and Amy Porter, and holds a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Indiana University, where he studied under Thomas Robertello. Additional mentors include Kathryn Lukas, Doriot Anthony Dwyer, Susan Milan, Elizabeth Rowe, Cynthia Meyers, Brian Gordon, and Viviana Cumplido Wilson. Alan performs on a custom 14K gold Haynes flute, a grenadilla wood Di Zhao flute with a Mancke African olive wood headjoint, a Burkart piccolo with a grenadilla wave-style Mancke headjoint, and a Pearl alto flute.
Andria Fennig received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from Arizona State University. She has served on the faculties of AZ State University, the University of Hawaii-Manoa, the Maricopa Community College District, and Grand Canyon University. Ms. Fennig has a broad and all-encompassing performance background including solo and collaborative artistry, and chamber music performance.
She regularly appears in pit orchestras of nationally touring Broadway productions (Wicked, Book of Mormon, Matilda, Aladdin, Phantom of the Opera, The Color Purple, On Your Feet, Scrooge, Mean Girls, and Beautiful), and entertainer acts (America’s Got Talent finalist, Jackie Evancho, The Voice finalist, Chris Mann, Il Divo, and the Three Irish Tenors). She regularly collaborates with New York-based performing organization, National Concerts, which provides unique choral and instrumental performance experiences to pre-college and college musical organizations in major performing venues (Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center). Other major collaborations include the Brahms’ Requiem, and Copland’s American Songs with the two-time, Grammy-Award Winning Phoenix Chorale. She appears annually as the guest collaborative artist for the Big 12 Trombone Festival at TX Tech University in Lubbock, TX. This past summer, she was one of the collaborative artists for both the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference and the National Flute Association Convention. Ms. Fennig founded and serves as representative A-Squared, a piano duo that performs several concerts annually throughout the SW United States. She teaches a large studio of gifted piano pupils of all ages and abilities (beginner through advanced) in the Valley.
